First widely-distributed hologram chase insert

Why it matters

Impel's 1990 Marvel Universe Series 1 debuted the first widely-distributed pack-inserted hologram cards. Five cards, numbered MH1 through MH5, seeded roughly one per box. Kids who pulled the Cosmic Spider-Man MH5 or the Silver Surfer MH2 immediately understood they were holding something different. The economics of the hologram were the economics of a chase.

How to identify

Card MH5 from the 1990 Marvel Universe Series 1 set. Front is a foil hologram of Spider-Man in cosmic form. Back has standard Marvel Universe backdrop with hologram designation. Distinct from the base #29 Spider-Man in the same set.
